This company had recently implemented an Enterprise Resource
Planning system, SAP R/3 and was not achieving the targeted
benefits of the investment. Staff turnover increased following
the rapid implementation. Customer satisfaction with the system
was low and management support for additional funding needed
to be strengthened. incorporate input from designees of the
Information Technology Management Board, and to present the
resulting process and tools to the ITMB for approval and deployment
authority.
Morningtons role was to stabilize the recently completed
implementation of SAP R/3 in order to realize the anticipated
benefits of the investment. We addressed the long-term support
strategy and the staff retention issues. We also linked the
additional system investment needed to the latest company
financial and operational objectives, including a cost reduction
program, and a large-scale re-organization effort.
Mornington defined and prioritized the system and process
improvements needed to reach the benefits. We identified business
opportunities, established targets and success measurements,
outlined a continuous improvement and support strategy, and
created a detailed workplan to be executed by the clients
staff. In a second phase, Mornington will assist the client
in executing the more complex process improvements and configuration
changes.
The customer has integrated the business process improvements
and SAP configuration upgrade in its operational plans. Executive
satisfaction is significantly higher following re-training.
Support for SAP is growing. Cost savings opportunities have
been identified in IT and business areas, and work is proceeding
to capitalize on them.
