This global cruise company was in the process of rejuvenating
a critical part of its application portfolio. Due to the strategic
dimension of the application and the specific needs of the
industry, decisions need to be taken as to the use of purchased
modules versus specific development or re-use of the current
application, re-architected.
Mornington Consulting Partners led the project, providing
a functional gap analysis, a technical review report, and
associated time, resources and cost estimates. We evaluated
current processes, reviewed existing supplier and partner
relationships, doing a preliminary analysis of the redesign
of the hardware and telecommunications approaches.
Mornington established the cost, risks, and possible timing
for a major client-server development effort. We then conducted
a gap analysis, comparing user requirements with a commercially
available third-party package; and researched the vendor partnering
capabilities of the third-party provider. We also assisted
in the review of technical alternatives, including the technical
review of the third-party package. The project, scheduled
to take 6 weeks, was completed successfully.
